Community Programs Lead

Black in AI, Remote – Jan 2018 - Jan 2023

• Responsible for strategy and implementation of community programs for Black in AI, a global movement aiming at increasing the sustained presence of black people in the field artificial intelligence.
• Started Entrepreneurship Program serving 119 founders having collectively raised at least $428m and created more than 1000 jobs.
• Led admissions effort for 2 years in which we grew from 300 to 1200, then managed admissions team of 2 people for 1.5 years when we grew from 1200 to 4800. Fully transitioned out of admissions in March 2022 after putting a solid team in place.
• Grew organic Twitter following from 1k to 45k followers in 4 years.
• Grew organic Facebook following from 1k to 8k in 4 years.

Silicon Valley Africans, Remote - May 2017 - July 2020

• Founded Silicon Valley Africans to accelerate the growth and success of African-led ventures in Silicon Valley as well as strengthen the presence, visibility of Africans in the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem
• SVA has grown from a 2 to 200 members strong community of highly educated and ambitious friends of Africa
• The community has 15 early-stage startups with founders from the community which have actively raised more than $40m and employ more than 50 people
• We organized 15 events including sailing, hiking, visit of Gigster HQ and UC Berkeley event on future of Venture Capital in Africa
• Since November 2019, we have run a startup school focused on helping early stage founders and have directly worked with 3 startups and helped them fundraise, adapt to Covid19 and launch their product
